  •  Water Operator

The incumbent performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance work to support the operations of the street department and performs other technical work as required. 


Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within six (6) months Class D Water Operator license. 
  • Must have or be able to obtain within six (6) months of Class D Wastewater Operator license.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Operational characteristics, services, and activities of Municipal public water and wastewater systems
  • Maintain licensing requirements.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Knowledge in safe work practices
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • A Valid Oklahoma Driver License
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with staff and the public.
  • Participate in training sessions to develop or enhance required skills.


NOTICE: This classification is a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a “safety sensitive” classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.  


  • Lifeguards
  • The City of Fairview Aquatic Center is now accepting applications for lifeguards. 
  • Successful applicants will be required to provide all Red Cross Certificates prior to the pool opening.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
  • Applications may be picked up at the City Office located at 123 S. 6th and will be accepted until the positions are filled.
